Sierra Leone: 10,000 Acres Needed for Rubber Farming

Monrovia — Sierra Leone’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security Dr. Joseph Sam Sesay, Resident Minister East William Juana Smith and senior government officials recently concluded a working tour on the Firestone Rubber Plantation in Monrovia, Liberia.

The minister and his team led by the Chief Executive Officer of an Italian agriculture company, Dr. Edmondo Trombetta and his manager Madam Rebecca Eze held a successful meeting at the Firestone Conference Hall in Harbel. One of the most important issues discussed was the acquisition of some 10 thousand acres of land that will be needed for the company to start operations in Sierra Leone.

After the meeting, the delegates took a tour around the plantation to see the nursery sites, building component, transplanting acres, Firestone wood factory, hospital, other farming areas, the two water/hydro dam and the electricity plants.
